Smokestack Lightnin were formed in early 2014 and was the coming together of two very talented lead guitarists in the form of Steve "The Teacher" Dunn & Chris Davey aka "CJ Blues". They soon solicited the help of both Hugh Dixon (drums) & Dai Mac (Bass Guitar) and set about building a cover set around a 4 piece band with the two guitarists sharing the vocals.
After a few promising practices a fluke introduction led to the addition of Man Mountain Matt Newman (son of legendary Welsh Big Band Singer Henry "Lee" Newman) on vocals and later Harmonica giving the band yet another dimension.
The often overlooked sixth member of the band and the person responsible for their great live sound is their sound & tech man Deigh Evans, who joined the band around July. Throughout 2014 Smokestack Lightnin have been treading the boards in what's promising to be a meteoric rise to fame with appearances on Cardiff Radio, Big Scott Radio & Made in Cardiff TV to name but a few... Playing gigs with a mix of classic blues standards, mighty crossover blues covers and in recent months their own blend of powerhouse rock blues Smokestack Lightnin just keep on bringing the crowds back for more.
