27/28 AUGUST 2016 History Of Megaday

Megaday 2012

Megaday No 18 Venue: Caerphilly RFC – Total Raised £16,000

Jaded headlined a line up which included many Megaday favourites such as 4th Street Traffic and the Love Handles. There was also a Foo Fighters tribute act (the Flu Fighters) who made their Megaday debut.

Rising logistics costs meant it made more sense to move Megaday Saturday back in doors and take the Megaday Dance night back to Pulsar’s nightclub. In another successful dance night, over £500 was raised towards this year’s total. A separate Dance night was also held on the Big Cheese weekend featuring DJ Gethyn Williams who organised and set up the event.

Prior to Megaday weekend, many of the Megaday volunteers visited Velindre hospital to meet the staff and took a brief tour. They saw first-hand lots of the differences that Megaday has made to Velindre over the years, such as a children’s play room Megaday helped to build and specialist beds Megaday funded.

Three of the Megaday organiser’s team, Steve Sullivan, James Edwards and Peter Hopkins also entered the Cardiff Half Marathon; they completed it in 2 hours 10 mins and raised an additional £1700 for Velindre hospital.
