27/28 AUGUST 2016 History Of Megaday

Megaday 2007

Megaday No 13 Venue: Caerphilly RFC – Total Raised £25,000

In 2007 we started to promote Megaday “Dress Down Fridays” for local businesses to get involved to raise funds. A big thank you must to go out to Wayne Jackson and the team at Credit Safe Caerphilly who raised over £3000. Their contribution helped make it the most successful Megaday ever, raising over £25,000 in total for Velindre hospital.

On a sad note, in 2007 local town Councillor Malcolm Evans died. Malcolm had been a keen supporter of Megaday over the years and had helped us out many times, especially in the early days when we were young and inexperienced. Malcolm was one of life's genuine good blokes. We will always be grateful to him for his support, words of advice and kind contribution.

The Megaday Facebook site was also launched this year www.facebook.com/megaday

The 4th Megaday Battle of the bands competition was won by When in Rome, who went on to play Megaday Sunday the following year, after changing their name to My Gambino. The Megaday 2007 six aside football competition was won by Megaday band “We Are Trees”
